Choosing the Shoes for Formal Wear
Choosing the right shoes for any formal occasion, may it be a sit-down dinner, or a prom, or some awards night, can be a little frustrating for the females. It’s not only about the style (or if it will match their dress) and it’s appropriateness for the occasion, but there is also the subject of comfort that needs to be addressed.
Check the occasion. Are you allowed to wear open-toed sandals? Some events are strict with attire, including footwear. If you are in doubt of what to wear, make sure you ask first before you buy something that is not entirely appropriate.
When choosing shoes, make sure that they complement your look. If you already have the dress, you may bring it with you when buying shoes and accessories. If it’s too much hassle, make sure that you bring at least a photo. You will need it to match color and to find a style or design that would go well with your outfit.
Choose shoes that fit. Not all formal shoes will be comfortable, but at least wear something that you won’t have to force your feet into. There is nothing worse than wearing a beautiful dress only to limp while wearing it.
If you are on the more practical side, you can choose simple yet classic styles for shoes. These are versatile enough so that you can pair them with many dresses and outfits. In other words, you can wear them again.
