Time Management for Students
It’s very easy to get distracted if you’re a teenager. Unfortunately, you can’t afford to be distracted all the time especially if you are a student. The best way to handle this is if you are able to manage your time efficiently. If you just work on your schedule wisely, you’ll be able to have time for both your studies and your interests.
Keep a planner and maintain it diligently. The best way to manage your time efficiently is if you write down all the stuff you have to do on a planner. Mark the dates of school deadlines, exams, chores, club activities, and social engagements.
From this over-all planner, you will be able to make a “to do” list every day. Write this down on an index card that you can put in your pocket. Indicate the time and place where you need to be, and the chore you have to do. Prepare this the night before and leave it where you can see it the next day so you won’t forget it.
Prioritize. Make sure that you schedule your tasks so that you give yourself ample time to do them. if you’ve been given a deadline for a term paper that is due in two weeks, you can break that assignment into smaller tasks throughout those two weeks. For example:
- Think of a topic.
- Get sources.
- Scan readings.
- Make an outline
- Write the first draft.
- Proofread.
- Type final draft.
- Submit.
Whatever you do, do not cram. Do not procrastinate and leave everything until the last minute.
Get enough sleep everyday. The more rest you get, the more energy you’ll have to accomplish your tasks throughout the day.
Most importantly, reward yourself for your accomplishments. Treat yourself to a pizza, or a night out with friends, or maybe an extra hour with the game console. You earned it!
