Traveling for the Elderly
Planning a short holiday somewhere nice and sunny? These are tipz for elderly citizens on how to travel comfortably and safely:
The most important part making the trip as comfortable and as worry-free as possible is the planning stage. Think of your destination. What would the weather be like? Would the cold temperature make your arthritis act up? Knowing all of these would help you plan your activities and the things you need to pack accordingly.
If you have a travel agent, you can alert him or her of your special needs. For example, if you are flying, it would be advisable if you be seated somewhere where there is more leg room.
Remember to pack your medication, prescription, and any note from your doctor with you. Make sure that you keep them in your purse or carry on just in case you may need them while traveling.
Plan your stops if you are traveling by car. It is important for you to go on bathroom breaks and to stretch your limb so make sure that you have enough places to stop for those.
