For the Ladies: How to De-emphasize Broad Shoulders

Do you have broad shoulders and rather conscious of them? Don’t worry. It can all be done by knowing how to dress to give an illusion of less shoulder width.
Avoid tops or jackets that has shoulder padding. These will only emphasize your shoulders more (not to mention, make you look like a football player). What you would want is a jacket that is form fitting or tailored fit which is slightly loose at the shoulders.
Wear less dark colors. Be a little more adventurous and try a combination of dark and light ones. A dark top paired with a pastel colored cardigan or jacket or wrap would be a perfect example.
Wear looser fitted shirts and avoid too baggy or too form fitting. A dolman sleeved sweater or top or a demure silk blouse will do the trick. Try to find any material and style that would flow over you instead of hug or hung your form.
Drape a long scarf or a pashmina over your shoulders. This does not only look classy, but it is also a good concealer of broad shoulders.
As for necklines, go for V-neck or one that is slightly plunging. Boat neck and square tops would only emphasize your shoulders.
