How to Avoid Being Distracted By Your Computer at Work

There can be a lot of distractions at work and even your own computer can work against you if you’re not too careful. Here are stuff you can do to avoid procrastinating while in the office.
Avoid checking your e-mail every now and then. Set specific times when you allow yourself to check your e-mail. Three times a day should be enough. If there is an urgent e-mail that you are expecting, you can try checking for 2 minutes on top of each hour.
Open windows or applications which you only need for whatever task or tasks you are presently working on. This will help you concentrate only on one to a few tasks at hand.
Avoid installing games or video players. After all, you should be doing work and not playing around. Even if you tell yourself that you’d only play for 5 minutes and on breaks, the temptation is always there. Better to eliminate distraction.
