Excuses Not to Drink
Let’s say that you attend a party and the host starts to ply you with alcohol but you’re not really in the mood to drink. You can always use any of these excuses:
The most common excuse for not drinking is to say that you are driving, or if you come in with a group, you are the designated driver. Be sure to volunteer beforehand so you would be telling the truth.
Another excuse is to bring in the medical or health angle. You can always say that you can’t drink upon your doctor’s orders, because you are taking medication.
You can also try saying that you were already wasted the night before and you’d rather not to lose your dinner this time. Just make sure that your host does not know your whereabouts the night before. Try a bit of acting though. Be consistent though.
However, the best excuse is not really an excuse – just be straight about it and say no, you would not like a drink. This way you don’t have to lie.
