How to Avoid Procrastination in School

Students love cramming. For some, the adrenalin pumping while cramming can be helpful, but don’t you
think it would be better to relieve some of the pre-exam stress by not procrastinating? If you are having difficulties about this, then here are some tips to help you out:

Break down tasks. If you have a paper due in two weeks time, you can break down the tasks so you can devote to it only 15 to 30 minutes of your time everyday. You can find resources on the first day, create an outline the second day, write two paragraphs on the third day and so on and so forth until you’ve completed the paper in time for the deadline. And you didn’t have to do an all-nighter too!

If studying is getting boring, round up your friends and have a study group. Complete assignments or study for tests. Throw ideas around and divide the amount of time it takes to complete tasks. Assign a chapter to one person so when you get together, each one can discuss each chapter.

Create study notes. Avoid reading tons of pages on the night before the exam. You won’t remember anything the next day because of information overload. While you’ve been reading a page everyday, take down notes. These are what you can review before the exam date.

Reward yourself for tasks accomplished for the day. It can be eating your favorite ice cream, or watching two hours of your favorite TV show, or even playing an hour or two of your favorite video game. Not only will you keep yourself in high spirits for doing a great job, it will also motivate you while doing the actual tasks.
