Online banking is very convenient. You can transfer funds or pay bills with just one click of the mouse in front of your computer at home. No queuing up. No cutting short of lunch breaks. Very convenient for those who seem to be doing hundreds of things at the same time. But online banking too can be a hassle if you do not keep your eye on certain things. Here are some tips on how to effectively bank online:

Double check your transactions. Online banking may be convenient, but it is still not foolproof. Even if you have set up your automatic bill payment option, there can still be some remote probability that your payment hasn’t been made. If you scheduled a payment on a certain date, be sure to check if payment has been made on that date. Always print or save your transaction receipt for future references.

Always ensure that your funds are available. Always replenish your funds especially when bill payments are due. You don’t want to incur more charges (from both the bank, but also the company you owe) just because you lack the funds needed.

Check the charges. Before you set up automatic bill payment, make sure you know the terms and conditions. Some banks charge for this service, and some don’t. Read the finer print first so you won’t be surprised where the extra deductions come from.
