Cubicle Etiquette
You do wish to carry on a nice working relationship with your cube mates, right? Well here are some cubicle etiquette you might need to remember to make sure that this thing works:
Shhh… Lower your voice. Make sure that you speak quietly so that your voice won’t carry over up to five cubicles from yours. This is also the same for music and other potentially loud things you do in your cubicle. Get some headsets or earphones if you need to listen to music while you work.
Personal calls can be made in the office, provided that they are done briefly and as much as possible only when needed as in the case of emergencies. Your cube mates don’t need to find out all the details of your private life.
This is the same for anything private. Do not display potentially offensive or too-provocative pictures or materials in your cube. Keep things professional.
Respect your neighbors’ privacy. Announce your presence before entering one’s cube space. If you hear a personal conversation, keep it to yourself and do not broadcast it for the whole gossip-mongers in the office to feast on.
Ask permission if you need to borrow office supplies. If the person is not in his or her cube, wait for them to come back. Getting a stapler from another person’s desk without their knowledge is still considered ‘stealing.’
