How to be a Proper Roommate
July 5, 2010 | In: Relationship

Sharing living quarters with someone, whether you share an intimate relationship or not, requires a lot of give-and-take between (or among) parties.
One major contention between roommates is the financial side of things. To avoid future arguments, it is best to put the names of all the people who are sharing house. This will make sure that everybody acknowledges their responsibility in the matter of paying rent and utilities as well.
From the start, make sure that you create an agreement on how the living space will be used, including provate and shared areas. Create rules as well. Might be too harsh for some people, but especially for those who do share close relationships, it is always best to have things in writing, and signed by all people involved.
Be wary of potential roommates who do not want to sign a lease, or a formalization of your agreement. Better look for somebody else, or else you might regret taking on such a room mate who obviously has bad intent.
