How to Be Healthy As You Grow Older

June 30, 2010 | In: Fitness, General, Health, Nutrition

It’s important that we take care of ourselves better as we get older, especially as we are prone to illness, as our bodies adjust to getting old.

Get a lot of sleep, especially at night, every night. A good night’s rest can prevent sluggishness throughout the day. It also helps your cells to regenerate better.

Watch what you eat. This doesn’t mean not eating anything. You can still enjoy the foods that you usually eat, but this time, eat in moderation. Too much of anything is bad, no matter how old you are, but more so when you’re getting older. Drink lots of water too to keep your body hydrated.

Exercise! Even if it’s just moving a lot through the day. This doesn’t mean working out in the gym. Simply take short walks in the morning and in the aftrernoon will surely keep you active and about.

Stay away from a lot of sugar, alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine. Try tea instead of coffee. Limit alcohol and instead of carbonated drinks, try fruit juices.
