How to Be Safe When Traveling Alone

Keep your car doors locked all the time. Keep your windows rolled up too especially if you are driving in unsavory neighborhoods.
Keep your bags, parcels and shopping bags under the car seats. This will keep snatchers from being tempted to do away with your belongings. If you need to keep your purse handy, you can always attach it by looping its strap around your car seat.
Keep to the main streets. Avoid taking shortcuts by using those dark side streets and even parks, even in your own neighborhood. Keep to well-lighted and populated areas.
Keep yourself from picking up hitchhikers – men, women, or youngsters. Being a good Samaritan is fine but it is always better to be safe than be sorry.
Keep the tank at least half full, especially if you are doing long-distance driving. Treat it as the empty mark. You’ll never know when or where you’ll get stuck without fuel.
Keep your cellphone with you at all times. Use it only during emergencies and make sure that it is fully-charged before leaving your home.
