Braid Cornrows Braid Cornrows
A cornrow is a type of hair braid popular among the African people. As its name suggests, the braid is formed in columns that simulate the appearance of a corn. They are nice to look at. But while they may let you wonder how these cornrows are done or if they’re complicated to do, the truth is it’s easy to do. All you need is to learn the technique and practice it to get it right. In fact, some people can even get it right the first time they try.
Cornrows have different patterns and they can stay for weeks if left untouched. There are also complicated patterns. To do this, you will need a comb with fine teeth, gel or hair wax, small rubber bands and spray bottle containing water.
The first step is to wet the hair. This should make it easy to divide and braid. Use your spray bottle in wetting the hair.
Depending on the pattern you want, the next thing to do is to divide the hair into different sections at least one inch wide. Cornrows need to be small so they can hold well.
In dividing the hair, begin at the top of the head. Use the fine-toothed comb to part the first row from the top part to the back of the head. Make sure that the scalp appears when you divide the hair.
Clip the other hair. Be sure to secure the other part of the hair not being used. Do this by using rubber bands or large hair clips.
To begin your braid, divide the first section into three strands that of equal size. Then start with the left and put it over the center. Next pull the right strand over the new center and continue by repeating the steps. Just ensure that you tighten the braid as you go along.
While doing the braid, you should be gathering more hair as you go along but still maintaining the three strands. Repeat the technique of left over the new center and right over the center.
Once you’ve finished the first section up to the end of the hairline at the back of the head, secure it with a small rubber band and then start with a new section. The process may take some time the reason why patience is very much essential here.
If you’re skilled enough with the cornrow braid, you can even start a business. Perhaps, try it with your friends first and then promote it to the others by word of mouth.
