How to Build a Good Working Relationship with Your Boss

Are you new on your job as an administrative assistant? Are you scared that you won’t be able to build a good professional rapport with your boss?
If you’re new, your boss would actually meet with you. If you are replacing an old admin assistant, then he or she would have likely oriented you. If not, then have a meeting with your boss. Find out how he likes things done and what are the most important tasks that you ar supposed to do.
Maintain open communication with your boss. Observe your boss and try to anticipate his needs and expectations. This does not happen overnight so it is understandable if you don’t get this right away.
Once you’ve gotten the flow of work and your boss’ personality, organize a work system that suits both you and your boss. This way, your boss will be able to cope even if you are out of the office.
Be loyal. Never make your boss look bad. Do not talk behind his or her back. Treat his clients, friends, and co-workers with respect as well.
Look and act professional. Whatever wrong conduct you perform is a slight to your boss’ image. So make sure you dress smartly and act accordingly.
