How to Care for Children’s Clothes
February 6, 2009 | In: Apparel, Children's
With the recent economic crunch, many parents are hoping to find ways to cut down their home budget in as many ways as possible. As children’s clothing can be expensive, why not take care of your children’s existing clothes so that they can last longer. Perhaps, even the younger siblings can even make use of them eventually. Here are some tips on how to take care of children’s clothes:
Store the clothes properly. If you have large plastic boxes, use them. Cardboard cannot protect its contents against moth and water damages.
Replace cedar chips every season, and always check your closets for moths.
Wash and dry clothes before storing them. Damp and dirty ones attract all sorts of insects and rodents.
Take time to do the laundry properly. Check the labels on how to wash particular materials. Sometimes, there are clothes need special cleaning. Read the labels and follow the instructions.
When washing, empty all pockets. There might be materials that might transfer their color to the clothes.
Close all zippers to avoid snagging. Check for holes so that you can sew them before washing.
Colored articles should be turned inside out so they won’t fade. Separate clothes to like colors.
Pre-treat stains.
