Caring for Marble
Marble flooring is beautiful and quite easy to clean, that’s why a lot of people prefer them as flooring material for their bathrooms or even living rooms. But marble is also prone to damage. It can be scratched and marred if one is not too careful. Even powdered cleansers, weak acids such as vinegar, wine, cola, and orange juice can damage marble. So how do you take care of marble properly?
For weekly cleaning, wipe down marble surfaces with a damp rag. Buff dry with a chamois.
If you need to use a cleaner for tough stains, use one that is mild and nonabrasive. Acetone or hydrogen peroxide or clear amonia will do great. Apply the cleaner with a cloth. Buff dry afterwards.
When polishing, use a polish product specifically for marble. Choose the one with tin oxide if you can.
Use protective covers for furniture. You may also throw in rugs. Glasses can be put on coasters. Plastic mats can also be used to protect marble from cosmetics container in the bathroom.
If there are deep scratches, refer them to a professional.
