How to Choose Shoes for the Nursing Profession

June 10, 2010 | In: Accessories, Beauty and Grooming, Career, Fashion

Nurses are mostly on their feet during their shifts, especially when they have rounds. Especially more so if they belong to the busier hospital units or deartments. It is necessary that their feet are well-shodded to withstand the constant, standing and walking.

Check with the hospital if they have requirement when it comes to shoes that go along with your uniform. They might have restrictions on the color or brand.

Your shoes should be comfortable. When buying, try them on and walk them around. Lace them as you normally would. If they feel hard, or if they pinch, or if they’re too loose, ditch them. You’ll soon find yourself with injured feet.

Make sure that they are durable. If you are going to be on your feet all day, and if you’re constantly walking (and running), you might as well be sure that your shoes can stand all these. You might buy shoes that crack only after a week.
