Choosing a Caterer
Whatever event you are organizing, it is always a sure bet that people will talk about not so much about the venue but the food. Here are some tipz on how to choose the right caterer for your party.
Check if the venue you are getting has a tie-up with one or several caterers. If not, or if you do not approve of their caterers, ask if they allow outside caterers to work on their property. Some do not allow this, while some may but will charge you for corkage. Be clear on this so there would be no misunderstanding later on.
Make an appointment to have a taste-test session. Specify that you would like to taste the exact menu that will be served to your guests. Never hire a caterer which does not provide a tasting session.
Once you have a list of caterers (narrow it down to two or three), ask for written quotes. Do not just ask for prices but details of what will be provided. If you have special requests, relay them to the caterers so they can include this in their quote.
Choose the one which best meet your needs. Read the final contract, especially the fine print, before signing.
