Cleaning Clothes
Difficult enough to clean clothes when you’re staying put, what more when you travel? Here are some tips on how to keep your clothes clean while traveling:
Keep your body clean. Shower and apply anti-perspirant and/or deodorant so your clothes can stay clean on the inside.
You can have your clothes professionally laundered but remember that costs may vary. If you’re trying to stick on a budget, then better to do things on your own.
Before you go on your trip, bring clothes that are easy to wash. Drip-dry materials are preferable. Buy a universal sink stopper and a mesh bag which you can use to do your own laundry. Complete this kit by including a small elastic bungee cord to make into a clothesline for drying.
Do your laundry as often as possible. For example, you can wash your undies and light shirts at night before you go to sleep so they can dry overnight.
Fill the sink with water and wash your clothes using a bar soap, or shampoo, or laundry detergent if you can buy some. After washing, wring out clothes and hang them near a vent, air-conditiong unit or window, or in sunlight if possible.
