How to Clean Electronic Gadgets

entertainmentCleaning electronic gadgets need not be a daunting task. Here are some tips to keep your tech stuff dust-free and in tip-top shape:

Before you begin cleaning, check the user-manual accompanying the equipment. It usually states there the cleaning instructions. You can also check the labels of the equipment. Most labels give directions on how to open up the equipment. Read all the labels carefully though. As there are some equipment that shouldn’t be opened up. If it has a seal, you may even make the warranty invalid.

Once you are done checking manuals and labels, you can now unplug the equipment from the power mains. Place it on a clean and flat surface. Make sure that the surrounding area is also clutter-free and dry.

Be careful of electric shocks. Check the power cord for abrasions and cuts. If it has, you can check the manual for further instructions or better yet, call an electrician for assistance. They will know how to handle the problem without risking your equipment.

Use an electrostatic cloth or a micro fiber cloth to gently wipe the equipment clean. Start from the top and work your way down. If you have a mini-vacuum cleaner, you may use that to remove dust from the harder-to-reach corners and crevices.

If the equipment has stains, you can try mild cleaning liquid dabbed on a cloth. But please, be careful of the sensitive parts of your equipment. Again, check the equipment’s accompanying manual if they are tolerant to cleaning liquids. Take your time in drying the equipment to make sure that it is done completely.

Give the equipment a quick wipe again before reconnecting it to the power supply.

Test the equipment.
