How to Clean Hairbrushes

Do you have dirty hairbrushes? Keeping and using a dirty hairbrush can cause scalp irritation and even infection. To avoid this, hairbrushes should also be cleaned regularly – about once or twice a month.
Gather all your hairbrushes. Remove all the hair strands from your brushes. Throw the hair strands away.
For plastic brushes, fill your sink with warm water. Dissolve half a cup of baking soda. Let your brushes soak in the solution for 15 minutes. Never use hot or boiling water as this might loosen the glue that holds the bristles together.
After 15 minutes, get an old but clean toothbrush. Apply a bit of shampoo and rub this gently on the bristles of the brush. Rinse under running water.
Place brushes on a clean towel and let your brushes dry completely.
For wooden or rubber cushioned brushes, you can use an old toothbrush and gently rub at the bristles of the hairbrush to get to the grime there.
