How to Clean the Kitchen as You Go
August 18, 2010 | In: Cleaning

Many restaurants and fast food chains use this motto when operating in their kitchens. If it works for them, then why not use it in the kitchens of our own homes?
Before starting to cook, prepare the following:
Fill one sink or a pan or a basin with soapy water.
Have two small garbage bags or plastic bags on standy by nearby.
A clean damp cloth
A clean dry cloth
When peeling vegetables or fruits, or opening cans and cartons, simply place them in either of the two garbage bags (one for food wastes and another for recyclable materials, make sure to rinse off the insides of cans before placing them in the bag).
Place dishes and utensils into basin or sink filled with soapy water after use. This will get rid off the foodstuff on the dishes, making them easier to wash later on.
Wipe spills and crumbs with the damp cloth as you encounter them. This way, you won’t deal with dried-up stains which would be more difficult to get rid off later on.
When you’re done cooking, simply tie the garbage bags closed and put them outside in their respective bins. Rinse off the dishes and utensils (plus the pots and pans) and place them in the dishwasher.
While you’re running the dishasher, get the dry cloth and run over the counters and the kitchen table. Now you can sweep or mop the floor clean.
