How to Clean Wicker Furniture

February 9, 2009 | In: Cleaning, Furniture

Cleaning wicker furniture is not as difficult as it may seem. Just follow these tips and you’ll get your wicker bright and shiny soon enough!

1. Best decide to clean your wicker set on a clear day when the sun is not too hot and there is no chance of rain.

2. Dust the furniture with a rag. You may also use a vacuum cleaner if you want to.

3. Set your wicker furniture outside.

3. Prepare a solution of a bucket of warm water and about four tablespoons of mild dish washing liquid. Dip a soft rag into the solution and gently clean the wicker. If your furniture has mold or mildew, you can use a bleach and water solution instead.

4. Using a clean, damp rag, wipe any residue of soap or bleach.

5. Dry with another soft rag or you may leave the furniture outside just as long as they are not under direct sunlight. Extreme weather may harm the wood, causing it to crack.

6. If your wicker is the type that can be polished, you may spray a bit of furniture polish and wipe. Make sure that you do this last step only about three or four times a year.

7. If your wicker furniture is showing its age, you may revive its former glory with a fresh coat of paint.
