How to Conceal a Love Bite
February 16, 2009 | In: Valentine's Day
Apt for post-Valentine’s day. Just in case things got a little heated up than usual, here are tips on how to remove that embarrassing tell-tale mark (or marks) on your neck.
Like any other bruising, love bites can be reduced by placing an ice cube or a cold compress directly on the hickey for twenty minutes. The cold temperature will also help control the color.
If the hickey is light (or if you have already performed the procedure above), you may just want to brush it softly with an old soft-bristled toothbrush or a loofah. Brush in a circular, outward motion. This will help even the blood circulation on that particular spot and will speed up the recovery process. Just be gentle when brushing so the skin won’t turn even redder.
Apply concealer on the bruise. Wear a top with high necklines, or better yet, turtleneck sweaters. You may also want to keep your hair down if it’s at least down to your shoulders in length. Scarves can also do the trick.
The best cure is of course, prevention. Be careful next time, lovebird!
