Even the workspace needs to be decluttered at least twice a year. One must see to it that the office is clean as this increases efficiency. Here are some tips on how to conduct office spring cleaning:

Assign one afternoon in every six months where you can do your spring cleaning. Make sure that it won’t interfere with your actual work.

Go through your files and paperwork and check the things that haven’t been used in more than 6 months. Pile them in three types, one for filing, one for trash, and one for processing.

Throw away those under the trash pile. Make sure you shred them first. File those under the file pile. Put all those for processing in your in tray.

Magazines, catalogs, old receipts, and wrappers, and anything else that have nothing to do with work should also be thrown away.

Wipe your desk clean of dust. Lift things and dust them too. Remove anything you do not need for work.

This should be the same for the insides of drawers. Check pens if they have ink. Throw those which no longer write.

Place things not intended for work in a box or a paper bag to bring home.
