How to Consolidate Errands by Planning Ahead

February 4, 2009 | In: Self Improvement

If there is one thing that you cannot afford to waste, then it is time. There is nothing you can do when it has run out and you find yourself wishing you can go back and do things more efficiently.

Here are some tips on how to consolidate your chores to avoid wasting time on doing things repeatedly:

Keep a master list. It can be a small notebook or a day planner; it’s your choice. Here you will write your goals – from everyday chores to more long-term plans.

Create and update a daily “to do” list. Do this at night before going to bed or early in the morning after waking up. Include deadlines, appointments, and stuff in your master list. Don’t forget to prioritize your tasks.

Group errands together. If you are dropping by the grocery store, perhaps you can also do other errands in that part of the town.

If you can afford it, buy two of everything. This will save you more trips to the store.

Buy an assortment of birthday cards and stock up on wrapping paper and ribbons. This way, you won’t have to rush to the stationery shop when you remember that it’s your Aunt’s birthday.

Keep a list of your family’s clothing sizes and shoe sizes in your wallet or have it written in your planner. If you stumble on a good buy, you can take advantage of it.
