Sweet potatoes are a healthy alternative to sources of startch such as potatoes and rice Aside from carbohydrates, they are also rich in dietary fiber, beta carotene,vitamins, and other minerals.
To cook sweet potatoes, you can do the following:
Boil or steam sweet potatoes. You can peel or unpeel them, it is up to you. Just be sure you wash them well first.
Pre-heat oven at 400 degrees F. Wash sweet potatoes well with their jackets. Cut off the ends. Place sweet potatoes in a baking dish or pan and bake for about an hour.
You can also roast sweet potatoes. Wash sweet potatoes and peel. Cut into thick chunks. Drizzle with a bit of olive oil and roast in a 400 degree F ove for about an hour.
You can also mash boiled sweet potato with milk and butter, much like ordinary mashed potatoes.
