Cramming isn’t the best way to deal with reviewing for a test, but it does happen so here are a few tipz on how to retain information the day or the night before an exam:

Relax. Panicking isn’t the best way to start your cram session. Compose yourself and take deep breaths. Focus on your task and not the fact that you are cramming.

Lay out your tools. Organize your books and notes. If you can make an outline of the exam coverage, all the better. Tackle the more difficult information first while your brain is still alert. You can go through the easier points later on.

Understand instead of memorize. Review the main points and general ideas. Once you’ve understood the main point, you can easily go over the finer details. Do not dwell too much on reading. Skim the materials. Tipz on how to do that here.

Take a break for 10 minutes after every hour. Stretch, relax, or eat. Your brain can only do so much work in so little time. Give it time to rest and digest information.

Avoid staying up all night. Depriving yourself of sleep will affect you adversely the next day. Instead of munching on sugar and gulping gallons of caffeine, try more nourishing food. The initial high you’ll get will ensure a crash later on. Very bad for cramming.
