Drying a Cell Phone
Cell phones are prone to getting wet by accident. Here are some tipz on how to dry one if it happens and make sure it’s still operable.
The first thing you need to remind yourself that there is a chance that you cannot salvage your phone when it does get wet. Like with any electronic gadget, water simply does not mix well with electricity.
Remove the phone from the liquid immediately. Get to the battery as soon as possible and remove it. The longer the battery stays inside the gadget, the higher the chance that the moisture will cause a short circuit. Don’t forget to remove the SIM card too while you’re at it.
Whatever you do, do not heat the battery as it may explode. Just replace the battery, it is much cheaper.
You can try any of the following methods:
Place the phone on top of a TV and let it stay there for up to three days, which is a bit long if you need your cell phone immediately. However, the low heat can dry the cellphone completely.
You may also place the phone outside, if it’s a sunny day. Just place it somewhere dry (where it can’t get wet any further) and shady where too strong heat can’t get to it. Check after two hours.
You can also buy a compressed air can that is usually used for cleaning laptops and computers. Just hold the can straight and shoot air into the nooks and crannies of the phone.
