How to Eat Healthy When Dining Out

1. Just stick to water. Avoid those bottomless or refillable drinks (especially iced tea, sweet juices, and soda) that restaurants seem to be fond of serving. Sweetened drinks contain a lot of calories. And like in buffets, you will be tempted to get your money’s worth and get as many refills as you can have.
2. Instead of ordering fried food, why not choose the grilled alternatives? They contain less calories and fat that way.
3. Buffets are evil. There is no possible way to eat healthy if you’re eating buffet, unless you stick to the salads and fruits. But as much as possible, try to stay away from eat-all-you-can restaurants. Stay away from temptration!
4. Eat only what you can. Split your order so you can share it with your friend (if you are eating with one). If you are eating alone, you can ask first how big the servings are so you know how much your are getting. Don’t feel obligated to finish your meal if your stomach is full.
5. Order sauces and dressings separately. This way, you don’t have to worry about the added calories that the chef poured lavishly into your meal.
