Spring and summer are excellent seasons to fertilize plants as they are growing seasons. Here are tipz on how to properly fertilize your prized plants:
Prepare the following:
liquid fertilizer or slow release fertilizer
watering can
Don’t fertilize more than is recommended or else you will burn your plants. If you use a claypot, this might also cause salt buildup. Try to keep the fertilizer away from the foliage as it may cause spots on leaves.
Select fertilizer that is formulated for houseplants. Add the concentrated fertilizer directly to the watering can.
Transfer your plant to a place where it can freely run water. If you live in an apartment, the kitchen sink or your bathtub will do. Pour the fertilizer solution onto the surface of the soil, making sure it flows from the pot’s drainage hole. Allow the water to completely drain through.
You can also use slow release fertilizer as an alternative. Just follow the directions on the package carefully.
