How to Find Out If Employees Are Unhappy

Unhappy employees tend to becom unproductive when it comes to work. Not only will they be prone to mistakes and shoddy work, there is also the inevitability of losing people if the cause of their unhappiness are not addressed immediately.
One way to find out if your staff is unhappy is by observation. First, if your office is separate from your people, you can drop by on their cubicles unexpectedly. Watch closely how they behave. If they become worried, apprehensive, or such, then something is wrong. Second, you can check the quality of their work. Constant misses on their part is an indication that there is something they might be unhappy with what they’re doing ( or they lack training). Third, observe how quick they respond to tasks. If it takes them too long to finish one simle task, then something might be wrong.
Second way to find out is to check their attendance records. The more frequent they take time off from work, the higher the possibility that they do not want to go to work. What could be the reason? This is the best time to investigate further.
Have short chats with your people, and have an open door policy. Foster a culture where people know that they can speak their minds and that they know that they are heard.
If a lot of people are starting to leave or are resigning, then it’s the best time to talk to them before they leave. These people may talk more freely.
