Car Leak
Do you notice that fluids in your car are running low? Except for gasoline and the windshield wiper solution, no fluid should get used up. Here are the fluids that you may have in your car, depending
on its make and model:
- gasoline
- oil
- coolant
- brake fluid
- windshield washer fluid
- gear oil
- power steering fluid
- automatic transmission fluid
If you want to find out if your car has a leak, here is what you do:
Open the hood and inspect the engine and engine compartment. Just do a visual check. See if you see something leaking. You don’t have to find out what is leaking if you are not exactly automotive-oriented. Just keep note of where the leak is coming from so you can tell your mechanic about it.
If there is no leak there, then inspect underneath the engine and the car. use a flashlight and look for wet areas or drips. If you don’t see any sign of leaking but still want to be sure about it, you can get a large piece of corrufated cardboard. Park your car so that the engine sits on top of it. Mark the position of the wheels on the board using a pen. Leave this overnight.
The following morning, remove the cardboard and note the position of any drip marks relative to the wheel markings. Go to your mechanic and have it diagnosed.
