How to Find the Perfect Speaker Spot
February 2, 2009 | In: Consumer Electronics, Home
You may have the best quality sound stereo system in the world, but the placement of your speakers will also help in creating the perfect listening experience. Just remember that placement of speakers may have to vary depending on your own personal taste, and not to mention the size and acoustics of the room. The best way to find out is to experiment. However, here are some tips that will help you get started:
Place two speakers about 8 feet apart. Make sure that they are facing the center of the room.
If the room is rectangular in shape, place the speakers along one of the shorter sides of the room.
Whatever the shape of the room is, make sure that you do not place the speakers so that they face each other.
Purchase a sound-dampening pad if the surface under the speaker vibrates, especially if it’s glass.
Remove all glass objects near your speakers.
If the sound appears to be muted, check the speaker terminals on the receiver’s rear panel.
