Everybody loves to have a face with smooth skin free from blemishes and pimples. Women are more conscious about this the reason why they do everything they can to get rid of pimples. They spend for products and medications that promise to give them smooth skin.

The real truth is that you can avoid pimples even without the medications. If you come from a family with history of pimples, there’s a chance that you can get it as well. But there’s no need to despair because various solutions are now available.

Pimples normally develop when the pores of the skin get clogged with oil and dirt. Maintain proper hygiene all the time by cleaning your face every day. For those with oily skin, be sure to wash your face two to three times a day using mild soap and water. Gently scrub your skin using a soft washcloth or exfoliating pad. Women who wear makeup need to clean their face as well before going to bed at night.

As for your makeup, opt for the oil-free type. This should avoid oil buildup on your skin but don’t forget to remove it ever night before sleeping.

If a pimple has developed on your face, avoid touching it if possible. Once you see a pus about to break out, never prick it with your fingers to prevent infection and irritation. Let it burst naturally so no scar will appear. However, if you need to prick it remember to wash your hands and use cotton or soft tissue between your fingers and face when pressing the pimple. When the pus has come out, wipe the open pore with alcohol soaked in cotton to kill bacteria.

Stress is also a major culprit so make sure to avoid it. How? By getting at least eight hours of sleep every day and by not staying up late at night. Relax your mind and body even when under pressure at work, business or at home.

The ice pack method that you use for bumps and bruises can also do the work. Apply ice to the pimple and let it stay for about two minutes. The cold temperature will lessen the redness, swelling and pain. You can do this every half hour if you wish.

Benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid is another solution. You can choose between a cream or ointment containing those ingredients. They can be applied to the pimple area only or on the entire face. Be careful, though, if you have sensitive skin as they can irritate the skin.

An old home remedy that may work for you is to put toothpaste on the pimple itself at night before you sleep and let it stay overnight. Another one is to use cotton dabbed with lemon juice and press it on the pimple for five minutes. Both methods should help lessen the redness and swelling.

Finally, if you’re in a situation that needs a quick fix, the concealer is your instant solution. Put enough concealer to hide that pimple if you have to attend a meeting or go on a dinner date. At least for that moment, your face will look blemish free.
