Prevent stains by quickly blotting the water on the wood surface with a soft clean cloth. Simply let the cloth soak all the moisture. Do not rub as the water may seep through the wood.

One home solution is by gently pressing paper towel with a tablespoon of mayonnaise on the spot. Let it stand for half an hour. Lift the paper towel and wipe the area clean. for tougher stains, you can leave the mayonnaise-soaked paper towel longer.

Another simple solution is by covering the water mark with plain cornstarch. Let this sit on the water mark for 3-5 hours, depending on the damage. Simply wipe off all the cornstarch with a clean, soft cloth.
