Gardening for Kids
Gardening is a very useful and educational hobby for children. It helps teach patience and responsibility. It also teaches care and nurturing.
During winter, you can get small pots and herbs. This will keep your children from getting bored when they have nothing else to do. Aside from herbs, you can also try plants which you can later transfer into personal plots when spring comes.
You can have your children plant vegetables. Once the vegetables have grown, you can buy herbs and vegetables from them as well. Money is always a good motivator.
You can also try to enter into a local contest for the largest pumpkin for Halloween. This will help them motivate themselves to always take care of their plants.
You can try other creative ways to encourage children to plant. For example, create a round plot in your yard and section this into “pie parts.” Plant pizza ingredients in each “pie part” such as basil, oregano, tomatoes, bell pepper, garlic, and onions.
