If you and your family are going out camping, or even have a day out in the garden or the park, it is better to be prepared for the mosquitoes and ants that are sure to lurk around the foliage. Here are some precautions you can take to safeguard you against these nasties:
1. Wear lightweight, airy clothing made of natural fibers. These materials will draw sweat away from the body, and we all know that mosquitoes are quite attracted to hot, sweaty skin.
2. Mosquitoes love to zero in on ankles and feet. Always wear socks and shoes outside at night.
3. Insects are attracted to scent, especially the sweet ones. If you are going camping, or going out on a picnic, avoid using fragrance. This includes scented deodorants, moisturizers, and hair products.
4. Sunscreens and repellents can actually work together. Just let one dry on your skin for five to ten minutes before applying the other.
5. One of the most effective repellent are those with DEET (Diethyl toluamide).
6. Plant a eucalyptus plant near your windows. Mosquitoes are naturally repelled by their scent.
