Bathroom Breaks in the Woods
Having the inconvenience of no toilets can take the fun out of camping – that is if you do not know what to do. Here are a few tips on how to do number one or two if you’re out in the wilds:
Select a good site for a bathroom break early on. Make sure that it is at least 200 feet away from any water source and 200 feet away from your campsite, trailers, and other areas frequented by people.
For doing number one, you can do so in a secluded area over sand, mineral oil, or an exposed rock. Women can bring a towel or a sari with them for more privacy.
For doing number two, dig a 6 inch deep hole when you find the perfect spot. Men or women alike should not forget to bring toilet paper and a small plastic bag. Simply drop your drawers and do your business. Place soiled toilet paper inside plastic bag. You can burn these later or you can take it with you with the rest of the belongings. Fill the hole using dirt, leaves, and rocks.
Wash your hands if water is readily available and not a problem.
