Improving Your Spelling
Not everyone has a flair for words. But if one has enough patience and determination to do better, he can build his vocabulary and improve on his spelling skills in no time. Here are some tipz on how to become a better speller.
Read. Read books, newspapers, online articles, magazines, fiction or nonfiction etc., etc. The important thing you need to do is to read. The more often opportunity we give ourselves to encounter written words, the better our subconscious can absorb the spelling of words.
Write. Using the words we learn in writing is a good exercise on memory reinforcement. Start with writing the word repeatedly. Next, use it in a sentence. Not only will your spelling will improve, but your vocabulary bank will build up too.
Use the dictionary. Pick a word from the thousands and memorize it. Make it your word for the day. Use it at some point in your daily conversation. Eventually, this word will become a part of your vocabulary.
There are downloadable computer games which can improve your spelling skills. If you’re the type who finds pen-and-paper approach too boring, then this might be a better option for you. You can also try to play scrabble with friends. This can be a fun and social way of learning spelling.
