How to Keep Cats from Scratching Furniture
August 10, 2010 | In: Pets

Keep yourself sane, your furniture protected, and you pet cat well-behaved and happy by doing the following:
Regularly trim your cat’s nails. So even if they start scratching, they won’t have anything to scratch with. You can also try claw covers sold in pet store.
Protect your furniture with cloth or any protective cover. For furniture legs, you can try covering with clear double-sided adhesive.
Buy your cat a scratch post. There are many scratch posts available, so try not to buy the same one each time. This will give your cat a variety of texture.
Discourage bad behavior by squirting water (via a water pistol or a spray bottle) when you catch your pet in the act of destroying furniture.
