… and parents too!

Yep. Believe it or not, kids do get stressed during the holidays. This is mainly because they project the tension and excitement they could around them during this time of the year – more so if their parents and the people around them are stressed and full of tension themselves. Here are tipz to get the children calm and more manageable – helps reduce the parents’ stress levels too.

Even if the kids have no school, make sure that they get plenty of sleep and that their video and television times have limit. Let them play outside in the yard a few hours a day to get all those extra energy spent. Inactive children tend to be more unruly and more difficult to handle. And you don’t want this, especially if you have to take them with you shopping.

Children expect a lot from Christmas. So don’t promise your kids anything that you can’t keep. Not only will they learn to mistrust you, but they will also associate the holidays with disappointment. Now that would be sad.

Yes, Christmas a special time of the year but make sure that you keep as normal a schedule as possible. This will surely help your child from being too excited by the new stuff going on around him.

Avoid overindulging children with sweet, sugary snacks. The sugar will get them on overdrive. More to add to your worries.

Talk to your children. Explain Christmas and what it means to a lot of people and why people prepare so much for it.
