How to Keep Kids Preoccupied During Road Trips

April 19, 2010 | In: Family, General, Motoring, Travel

Keeping kids preoccupied during a road trip or any form of travel can be a chore. TO parents who wish to have a relatively peaceful and fun travel time, here are stuff you can do:

Allow older kids to bring handheld video games. Make rules, especially if the family owns only one so that each kid can take turns using it.
If your car has a TV or equipped with a DVD, you can bring DVDs of family movies. You can also bring audio tapes or CDs of children’s books.

Bring a flat cushion or a secure travel table so that kids can draw or color or solve puzzles or work on activity books. Let them write using soft crayons so there wouldn’t be any danger of hurting themselves with pen and pencils when the car jolts suddenly. Just be sure to have an older kid or an adult supervise.

Pack snacks and drinks but be prepared to make scheduled (and even unscheduled) stops.
