Are you traveling abroad? Here are some tips and suggestions on how to keep your passport safe:
Before leaving home, make sure that you’ve made two copies of the front page of your passport, and your birth certificate. Leave one copy of your passport and the original birth certificate at home in your safe, or entrust this to a trusted friend or relative. Bring the others with you. Another option is to scan the documents and have them stored in your email account and in a removal disk.
You can bring your passport along with you as long as it is stored in a money belt that is strapped around your waist or hung around your neck with a strap. Make sure that you watch out when you take things in and out of the money belt, so that nothing important will fall out. Better yet, use the hotel safe and don’t forget to get it back.
