How to Maintain Good Friendships

True friends are hard to find. If you feel that you’ve already found the ones whom you can call your BFF’s, then lucky you. The least you can do is to nourish and take care of the relationship. How to do that? Read on!

Remember the Golden Rule? If you want to be treated well by others, then treat them well too. Do not do anything that would hurt your friends. Respect your friends’ views, opinions, and feelings, even if you don’t agree with them. Do not try to force your beliefs on them.

Every relationship should thrive in trust. This also comes with respect. Blabbing your friends’ secrets, and stealing or mooching off from them will not endear you to their hearts. If it’s not your secret to tell, then don’t broadcast it to the whole world. Your friends are not your walking purses. If this is your reason why you want friends, then you’d probably better off with a rich lover who would cater to all your whims.

Keep in contact as often as possible. At this day and age, it is so much easier. Even if you are a busy person (or even if you don’t receive replies often), a short text asking they’ve been doing would be very much appreciated. Don’t be there only during the good times. Make sure that you are available when your friends need help.

All relationships need to be a two-way street, friendship included. If you think you’ve been doing your best as a friend but you don’t feel like it’s being reciprocated (although a little flexibility and allowances should be allowed here), then perhaps you should think the relationship over.
