Effective To-Do Lists
Alright! You made the first step in being more organized. You’ve learned the importance of making to-do lists. This time, we’re going to show you tipz on how to do it more effectively!
It is good that you are writing things down. The only problem is you’re writing EVERYTHING down. To be a more effective list-maker, you have to learn how to keep things at bay. Practice discerning which tasks need priority so that once you’ve written everything down, you don’t have to re-write and re-organize.
What you can do is to have a notebook which you bring with you everywhere. You can write here thoughts, small tasks, big tasks as you remember them throughout the day. At the end of the day, you can just go through the pages and mark the tasks which you’ll have to do the next day and number them according to their priority. You can then write these tasks in the proper order on an index card which you can just put in your pocket for reference the next day.
Be realistic when you schedule tasks. Events (like meetings or reports) do not always finish on time. Always make allowances. Another important thing to remember is to not cram activities in one day. Bigger projects can be broken down into smaller tasks. Spread these tasks evenly through a given time frame, keeping the deadline in mind.
Don’t get frustrated at your list. Remember, it is not made in stone. Allow flexibility for sudden changes.
