Making Sun Tea
This is a wonderful summer beverage that anyone can easily make. You will need the following:
- clear glass jar with a working lid
- cold water
- 1 teabag or 1 teaspoon of loose tea per cup of water
Get your utensils and ingredients ready. When choosing a jar, get a glass one that can hold all the tea that you want to make. Next, fill it with fresh, cold drinking water.
Put the tea in the water. You can use whatever tea you prefer. Mint tea will make your drink all the more refreshing. You can also use chamomile or jasmine. It is really up to you what to use. You can also choose between tea bags and loose tea. If you use tea bags, tie the strings together and let them hang out the jar. If you use loose tea, you can put them in a clean cheesecloth and tie it with a clean string. Or you can just use them loose to be strained later on.
Set the jar under the sun for about an hour. Check the tea’s strength by looking at it’s color and by tasting it. The darker the tea, the stronger it will taste. Strain the leaves if you’re using loose tea.Just remember not to leave the tea bags or tea leaves in the water for too long as they will make the drink too bitter.
Pour the tea over ice. You may add a dollop of honey or a wedge of lemon or mint leaf and serve.
