Protecting Leather Shoes from Water
That much sounds like something a superhero would do. Anyway, this is a good tip for when the rains come. Protect your leather shoes and you won’t have to worry about a ruined waterlogged pair. You won’t need to constantly buy new ones which means money saved.
Buy an aerosol can of water repellant for leather shoes. Remember to do some research first. It would be better if you know the type of leather shoes you have so you’ll get just the right repellant for it.
Don’t spray the whole can on your shoes. Make sure that you test it first on one tiny spot. Wet a cotton bud and rub it on your shoe. Leave overnight. Check for peeling or discoloration.
Dust, clean, dry leather shoes and boots before spraying. Make sure that you wipe the entirety of the surface of your shoes and let them air dry if they’ve been wet.
Once the shoes are dry, you can now start shaking the aerosol can. Spray lightly over the surface of each shoe. Allow to dry for 15-20 minutes, or as per the product’s instructions. Repeat for a second light coat. Again, allow to dry completely.
You can spray your shoes when you’ve noticed that they aren’t repelling water any longer.
