How to Organize a Relief Drive
April 2, 2010 | In: General, Self Improvement

It’s really quite easy to organize relief drives for people affected by natural calamaties- that is if you do it systematically.
First, find out what help is needed. Is it winter clothes, children’s clothes, canned goods, medicine. This way you know exactly what you will request when you ask for donations.
Next, gather a group of volunteers. It can be as small as your family, or friends, or it can be as big as your community.
Set a goal. For example, you need to be able to gather enough materials for relief bags for 100 families. The relief bag can contain clothing for adults, clothing for children, and some canned goods. List down how many clothing you need and how many canned goods.
When you have a goal in mind, you can now assign tasks to volunteers. If you have a big group, you can form a committee first and have one person assigned to logistics, information,
etc. This will all depend on your goal.
Advertise well so you can reach your goal. You can try bulletin boards in schools, communities, at work, etc. You can also post online.
Accept all invitation big or small – they are all a great help.
When you’re done, don’t forget to thank your volunteers. You can simply send them notes or if you have the resources, compensate them by treating everyone to a good meal.
