How to Pack a Diaper Bag

diaper bagOne big mistake when packing a diaper bag when going out with the baby in tow, is to pack it too much with things that you won’t actually need. Here are some tipz on how to pack a diaper bag that has everything you need in it without getting to heavy to break your shoulder bone when you carry it.

Get a diaper bag that is just large enough. Huge diaper begs with lots of compartments will only make you feel that you ought to fill them up. Big mistake. If your shoulder droop when you carry a diaper bag, it means that the the only thing isn’t there is the kitchen sink.

So what do you actually put inside?

Diapers. A diaper bag is called such because it carries diapers. So the most important thing a diaper bag needs to have in it are diapers. About 6 to 8 diapers will do well. These numbers will also cover emergency leaks.

Baby Wipes. Your diaper brand may include one in each pack. If so, you can skip this. If not, get resealable wipe packs instead of those stored in bulky containers. The resealable wipe packs are not only lighter to carry, but they’re also less expensive.

Medicine Pack. We’re talking about a diaper rash ointment, Tylenol in dropper size, and a thermometer. A small tube of diaper rash ointment can come in handy for those unplanned rashes. You can also use them as a preventive measure everytime you change your baby’s diaper. An older baby who is teething or one who has just developed a fever can benefit from Tylenol and a thermometer.

Food. These are for when babies get hungry. One or two bottles prefilled with water and one or two small containers of pre-measured baby formula. Older children can have a bottle of baby food.

Clothes. Two to three onesies. They’re simple and quick enough to put on your babies. Don’t forget a bib or a burp cloth too.
